W210 Wagon rear seat(s) removal?
Hi all,
Usually this is quite a simple and easy thing to do in most cars as its obvious in terms of where all of the fixing are. I am planning to remove the rear seats (as well as the 2 extra seats in the boot) on my W210 wagon, I can easily lift the seats up to be able to fold the rear seats flat, however I am looking to remove them from the car. The rear seats are hinged, however I cannot see any bolts or obvious fixing that would need to be unbolted to remove them. I am guessing there might be fixing under the carpet, however I can't get the carpet up as the rear seats are in the way! Is there a schematic somewhere that shows how the rear seats are fixed to the car - I am guessing that there is also battery access somewhere but I can't find that either.

Your question maybe better answered in the tech help forum or look thru the stickies there or in BW. On my w124 the screws that fasten the rear cargo deck are actually hidden IN the carpet in not so obvious places. For example, fold up the doors where the 3rd seat is and they are behind and under the door in the carpet.

Not sure if the 210 does it like the 124...some things are very similar to the 124 and some are totally different.
On the underside of the 124 seat bottom cushion there is a red handle. After you tip up the bottom cushion, then you pull up on the red handle, and pull the bottom cushion straight up. It sits on two hinged posts.

The answer if anyone needs this in future is that the base seat cushions have a black handle on the lower edge which release it from a set of runners. Now I just need to find out how to remove the back of the back seats!
Also, the rear seat cushions weigh a combined total of 16kgs - they aren't even leather!
