mono wiper removal HELP!!!

i want to take off and disassemble the wiper assembly to re-lube. i got everything off, and it seems the gasket for the assembly was installed UNDER the windshield with gobbs of urethane.

was this done correctly? how do i get the thing off? how do i put it back on without leaks?

This isn't the way the FSM says to do it on a W201. I doubt the W124 was designed differently.

The black strips that run along the length of the underside of the windscreen (the whole length) clip out. So if you find that by removing the wiper mechanism the strips move it isn't the end of the world.

The rubber under the mono wiper is quite easy to change. (Available from the dealership for an OK price last time looked too)

Make sure you've removed all of the screws before you try and pull it away!

Oh yes - to replace the long under the windscreen strips you'll need to get some windscreen sealant.

...look at the pictures and the link and you'll see that the gasket is fitted to the mono wiper assembly not the car.

That rubber seal is suppose to sit on top of the glass. Looks like the windshield has been replaced without removing the wiper assembly. Very sloppy work as it only takes 2 minutes to remove it. Try tugging it to get it out of the urethane, hopefully it will come without ripping. Make sure you have the 2 nuts removed that are hidden by the seal.

There is a VERY good write up on the monowiper, right on this site (124 specific), facelifted 124s are a bit different in that seal thats glued to the windsheild.

PeachPartsWiki: Blower Motor Removal

for a blower motor, but it step by steps the wiper.

that is a very good write up, and exactly what my car is SUPPOSSED to look like. it looks like the gasket rests on top of the windshield not under it? mine is under it. and it looks like a good bit of it is.

looks like im gonna destroy this one getting it off. i tried tugging on it to see if it would slip out from under the glass/urethane to no avail.
