Glow Plug Upgrade
I've searched for this and can't find the answer.
When creating the wires for the loop to pencil glow plug upgrade, what length to you make the wires? Also, as far as I can see, 10AWG wire is what's needed. Does that sound right? Thanks |

10 awg seems reasonable for the thickness of the wires on my 84 & 85 300D glow-plug wires, but 12 awg would probably work too. Use wire rated for oil immersion. As to length, each one is a different length. Can't you just cut them as you install? You could grab a harness from a junkyard as a guide. For the plastic sheath they run in, search "PVC 105" from "SPC Technology" or "Alpha" on ebay. You need larger (~1/2"D), but that will get you in the neighborhood. I use it on when rewiring my 60's cars, or you could use "split loom", but I think it is ugly and hard to keep clean.

Measure the total length of the Glow Plugs.
Figure the length of glow plugs in the pic and work out a formula for the wires from the Pic by comparison. Also there is no harm if the wires are longer you can easily measure the length with the Glow Plugs installed.

I am not sure the kit is for sale anymore. Also when they did have the kit it came with a realy in it. That upped the cost.
Bosch at one time had a kit with just the plugs and the wires.

Unfortunately I can't help OP as the setup I had on my car I transferred to another (never took pics of course), which recently led to a problem getting the engine usable again, I actually ended up using the remains of a 1984 factory GP wiring harness on my 1980 engine that originally had loop GPs...
