Can you rebuilt Auxillary Water Pump.
Hi folks:
I finally fixed my Defrost vent problem by replacing the change over valve. Thanks to tips from this forum. I have 300D Turbo 1985-123 Now I have another problem. I had a problem that in winter it took too long to get heat in cabin. Yes the monovalve was busted so I fixed it. A little improvement but still took a long time to get heat. So I did some search on the forum, found it coud be the Auxillary water pump. Power supply to the auxillary water pump is fine. So its the motor on the pump that is toasted, because with external power supply the pump would not run. Now my Question is 100+ bucks for the pump is a bit too much, so I was thinking can the motor on the pump be rebuilt? That would be a cheaper affair. If that can be done then I can put an inline fuse to protect the whole unit and others from overload. Any suggestions as to where can such motors be rebuilt. I know they do wonderful job in India. But I am in USA.( My nephew is going on vacation to India may be I can send it with him as last resort) . But is it worth rebuilding it and If you put inline fuse where do you put it. I mean on which of the 2 wires. Thanks MVK 1985 300D turbo 179,000miles
