Insulting PayPal photo
I just an email from PayPal and it has a photo of a supposedly broken down W123. What the heck are they thinking implying such a thing? It's not that I've never broken down in one but I think they could have chose something more appropriate.
I thought I'd share. I haven't posting anything here for quite a while.

After all of the beaten down, broken ass POS W123's I looked at when I was buying, I think that is totally appropriate (and funny as heck).

x2, it's always an eye opener to see just how many folks neglect and abuse their vehicles, and then complain that nobody wants to buy them at their asking price.

Ironically I buy all my parts for my 300sd with PayPal earned from my online business.
Such a presumptuous photo too. He's gonna be one tired guy pushing a 123 for long.

I personally think a Ford or Chevy would be more appropriate.

One time on a 3k mile road trip in my grey car my wife and I played a really fun game.
Spot the broken down cars, and tally up which makes and models are most unreliable. Chevy SUVs were pretty high, then Toyota cars I believe. Didn't see a single mercedes broken down anywhere, and yes I did see several w123s and other similar aged ones. A lot of our cars do tend to have issues from people running WVO improperly. I've seen people pour in wvo and paint thinner unfiltered, and then wonder why their car doesn't last like everyone said the mercedes diesels were indestructible... That road trip we used about 1/4 tank of diesel, and an entire trunk full of WVO. only problem had? turbo drain seal. knew it was going but was too lazy to do it.

I think I would do bad things if I took the 240D on a 3,000 mile road trip.

Doesn't even have the hood at 90 degrees. Probably hasn't changed the fuel filters and 8 years and can't believe he broke down.

Actually he is not really broke down, he just bought it and the PO told him it would go a million miles easy and would get fifty miles to the gallon and he believed it.

A tally should find Toyota Camry's, then Honda Accords, Chevy's, ... since those were the big sellers for decades. Not near as many W123's sold in the U.S. But an old mechanical diesel should be the least likely to die on the road, since electrical problems are the first "dies while driving" culprit, especially in complicated modern cars. In 1979 I stopped to help a guy in a new Chevy truck. No spark, looked it over and quickly found a terminal nut on the coil loose. Tightened and it fired right up. Lazy union workers?

Go drive through Berkley, I've never seen so many beat to pieces W123's and Volvo's. The Benz in the pic looks good compared to what's up North of me.
