vacuum pump to air compressor. Feasable?

Hello, i have a om616 installed in a WIllys CJ2A jeep. Currently the vacuum pump is doing nothing. I was wondering what the feasability of converting it into an air compressor would be. I would like to hear everyones thoughts on this idea.

Thanks!

I dont think the exhaust port could handle a high pressure head.

I think it would be good to suck the air out of your tires...
lol
but agree with Dubyagee on the pressure issue...

Thanks for the input. I may go with a york AC compressor conversion instead. Just need to check the parts pile and see if i still have it.

If you could reverse the valves, you’d blow crankcase vapors rather than clean air to the consumer and create negative pressure in the crankcase increasing blowby. At least I think that’s how it works.

If you have the earlier vacuum pump w/ 2 tubes, it might be possible since the outlet (would become your inlet) ejects into one of the tubes instead of the crankcase, at least that is how I think it works. Rebuild kits are also much cheaper. I don't know that the 2 internal check valves can be turned around since they have a dome that I recall fits in one side only. I doubt the outlet check valve could be reversed, but you might remove the guts and plumb another check valve in the metal tubing. I doubt you would get more than 20 psig pressure, so if the purpose is to inflate tires it might not suffice. An AC compressor can make >300 psig.
