If pelican was even the slightest bit worried about being fined for these kits then the people who already have them for sale in their signatures would be banned and adds deleted.

Nothing would even happen, ever... Only legitimate huge companies selling tons of the kits have anything to worry about.

There is a lot worse stuff on the Internet too worry about than a egr delete kit

^^^agreed.

You guys selling these things and you guys buying these things are just a bunch of rebels. I’ll bet y’all even tear the tag off of your mattresses at home.:D

Y’all live too dangerously for me. LOL!!!

How much for a 603 kit? Thanks!

Thanks.

Edge products (see above) tried that defense. It didn't go well for them.

Again, the liability here may rest with Pelican, which is tolerating this stuff to be sold here, even if it's by neglect. I don't know why anyone would endanger someone else's business in this manner. These boards are entertaining and occasionally helpful, it's shameful to return the favor by endangering the host. If you want to do this business, go set up your own site.

As for suggestions that things are different now, EPA still prosecutes at about the same rate as always:

https://www.epa.gov/enforcement/clean-air-act-vehicle-and-engine-enforcement-case-resolutions

Go through these cases. You'll find VW for sure, but most of them are small time operators. They probably go after the small businesses because it's easier.

And finally, it's worth pointing out that if the manufacturer is located in one of the 13 states that incorporate CARB rules by compact, or sells into any of those states, then they would be liable to prosecution by California regulators as well. I just don't get why anyone would think this is ok.

Because not everyone's a nervous nancy. Do you call the cops on your neighbors' kids' lemonade stands?

^^^ This. It's not like deleting an EGR on a few classic Mercedes cars will do anything...

dude99 01-27-2018 01:04 PM

X1000 especially since most of us don't do it to roll coal...

renaissanceman 01-27-2018 06:34 PM

Most people use them to avoid the gunk buildup that restricts the intake manifold after a while. Restricted airflow into the engine is arguably more detrimental to overall emissions than removing the EGR and having the NOx levels go up. Particulates are more harmful than NOx if I'm not mistaken?
