BMW parts in 1998 Mercedes Power steering?
Cheers from Australia
My 98 E300 Turbo diesel needs a power steer pump rebuild including bearings. Finding kits for the diesel variation is tricky here. I read on some MB forums that BMW parts may be interchangeable ? Can a clever person advise a BMW model / year that might work ? My MB part no for the pump itself is 0024661001 Cheers for any advice Peter |

I've never heard of this. I've also spent a decent amount of time in a German exclusive repair shop working before I went to a dealer ane worked on a lot of late 90s hmws.

How much is a replacement pump? I'm seeing them advertised for under $150 around here.

IdK. Another option would be to try to find a good, used one.

Did you physically the gas and diesel pumps? There might be just a pulley difference.
ZF , Vickers and a few others make PS pumps so finding a pump from another car maker is a possibility. I'd start off by looking at seal kits to determine likely candidates. |

FWIW I recently bought a w210 turbo intake manifold with EGR - a bulky heavy thing - from ebay.de for $98 shipped to USA! The seller resisted at first as he was concerned about the "crazy" $60 shipping price on a $38 part, but I assured him I was willing to pay it. Parts that are rare here are sometimes commonplace over there and sellers are glad to make a deal.
