Question West coast...who's interested?

Okay, there was a thread earlier talking about a possible get-together similar to the ones in New Jersey and Texas, for us Left Coast guys who (mainly for time considerations; certainly not due to any car issues ) can't feasibly make anything east of the Rockies. That thread appears to have died a fairly quiet death.

So, my question is, who would be interested in attending such a thing? Also, where are you located (so a suitable location could be determined)?
I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area in northern California, on the penninsula between San Jose and San Francisco.

BTW, I chose not to make it a poll so that people would actually have to respond with their comments. And I know it wasn't originally my idea, but the idea seemed to have been going nowhere, and I figured I may as well take the initiative.

That's a thought...but I was kinda hoping for primarily diesel (although as far as I'm concerned, all are invited; I don't wanna actually eliminate anyone) .

As I think I've mentioned before, I'm also a regular on Ford-Diesel.com, and tried to set up a get-together primarily for IDI owners last year, in the SoCal area (I was driving my van down there to pick my truck up, so I actually had both my rigs there that weekend)...but I posted it on the Events, Get-Togethers, and Rallies forum instead of the 6.9l board (the moderators there can get fairly stickly on these things)...and the PSD owners (newer diesels; some of them can have a fairly high-and-mighty attitude towards the "old school" diesel trucks and, in numerous peoples' experiences, have a tendency to shut us out ) swamped the posting so much that three of us IDI guys (actually, the only IDI people who were interested, or at least who had seen the post) abandoned that thread and wound up just meeting on our own...it was very enjoyable.

Okay, I was wrong to make that assumption. That's what I get for being a history major and not a sociology major.

I think I'll wait a couple days and see if anyone else displays interest...

Also, Bill, you don't need to step out...almost made it sound like I was trying to kick you out. I just wish the Texas meet was earlier in the year...given that I'm planning on going out there, hopefully sometime before August...

Im *Definetly* interested.. Mark me as one to attend a West-coast get-together. I'm in Portland Oregon, and would be very eager to travel up to 250/300 mi to attend something.. Group, what do u think? We need to come up with a target area that works well for everyone.. Oregon is generally considered a sort of central location for Washington and California folk, but what do you think?? I'm also cool with Washington, tho that would be a signifacantly longer trek for CA folk....lets all share some ideas!

Hey Warden, thanks for picking this up and running with it. I got kinda discouraged. (Poor me!)
I live about a half hour north of Seattle, so anything south of the Calif/Oregon border would be a bit of a major trek for me this year. But if enough people wanted it in N. Cal, I'd try and make it if I could.
There was also some one that respnded to my origional post that was from Vancouver B.C. area. California would probably be a bit far for him too. But we'll see what happens from here.

I'm one of the lurking gasser owners ;-) I live in Eugene, OR and wouldn't be able to travel very far to participate, but if it was in the area, I'd love to go.

The last shin dig we had in So. Cal. attracted about 8 or so cars. All were gasoline models except one 116 diesel. There was one 140, one 108, and about 6 124's, including an E500.

Kind of a low turnout considering the number of members in So. Cal. I guess most people were tied up with their kids' sports activities, etc.

We still had a great time talking about our cars, and sharing experiences with what maintenance and repair items we'd done. We had lunch together, and probably stayed 3 hours or so. Some members had done a bit of modifications, and that was interesting, too.

Soooo, considering the low turnout for a GTG that required local people to drive such a short distance, my guess is you might have an even harder time with a "Left Coast GTG".

It might be a better idea to post a Northwest GTG or a Portland / Seattle GTG in the Open Discussion Forum.

Count me in! Anywhere in Northern California, and with enough lead time I'd even do the Northwest (been looking for a good excuse to go back up here!). I'll bring one of my "Oil Burners"
Lets do it!

Sure, count me in!

I live in San Jose, and would travel to the pennisula, or the city, or Napa.

I think the ideal place would be the Palo Alto area. It is halfway from Monterey and SF, and if someone came up from LA-LA, they wouldn''t have to deal with too much bay area to drive through. (although, the bay area is a cinch to drive in compared to LA)Lessee...hmmmm.

When is the Palo Alto Concours? This is a must see for anyone, and would dovetail nicely. Can someone do a search?
How about that Saturday morning at a restaurant. hmmmm...., how about someplace where we can stand around holding a great cuppa and doughnut? A Starbucks or Boulangerie.

Looks like us nor'westerners need to branch off and set up our own meet a bit farther north.
