When I say go into neutral, it seems the car is about to kickdown but it never grabs the gear. The kickdown is useless on my car. 99% throttle input is fine, but if I even try a soft kickdown it just revs freely. The car never goes or went into limp mode. I need to shoot a video of what I'm experiencing. First I'll check ATF level. I don't like throwing the parts shotgun, but kickdown switch and transmission 13 pin connector are going to get replaced soon. Those are my prime suspects.

606 NA should upshift at 5500 or 6000 rpm at WOT

I was hoping to get my diesel purge today, but I won't because FedEx is the carrier. Running the diesel purge would effectively bypass the tank strainer if it where the problem.

Your previous post says you want to run 6 cans. What does the manufacturer recommend?

They don't specify an amount, I just want to run it till it's clean and clear.

There is 2 threads where people rebuilt their lift pumps on similar Engines. One had the symptoms he was having. Repair Links Fast navigation http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diy-links-parts-category/146034-fast-navigation-do-yourself-links.html Also the Fuel Pressure Relief/Overflow valve has a plastic piece inside of it that can distort.

Think of a bucket that has mud on the bottom. it can be rinsed out but some will be stuck to the bottom. If you let it soak for a while then rinse again, more will come out. |

Appreciate the responses, but the more I drive it the more I'm convinced my transmission is dying.
1,2, and 3 flares a tiny bit. I'm still going to run a possible lift pump rebuild and checking the overflow valve.

If you put the shifter in 1st and toggle switch in " S " mode and you can't get the engine to run to redline ish , the engine is down on power.
Same goes for 2nd and SW in " W " ( in W mode the trans starts in 2nd ) |

Tried that, only goes to 4500rpm.

Then it is highly unlikely you have a transmission problem, you have an engine power problem.
That said, if the torque converter stator sprag is seized, you could have a limited top road speed however that isn't likely given: 1) You are struggling to get a 1 - 2 - 3 shift. A seized sprag would allow goodish acceleration at lower road speeds since loads are low. 2) There would be a loud whistling noise from the torque converter. 3) Trans temps would be very high triggering overload codes. 4) That evil limp mode specifically designed to take advantage of the motoring public even though there is noting wrong with the car would kick in. ( Well according to a thread in the tech section ) On the other end of this, if the stator sprag was free wheeling, acceleration would be slow but top speed unaffected and there would be no noise. |

That's because 97 SL320 is full of it. A 97 om606 is programmed to upshift at 4500 rpm.
