Is a Baldwin P102 oil filter supposed to look like this?

I purchased a Baldwin P102 oil filter from R-o-c-k--A-u-t-o to add to my oil filter stockpile of Mann and Mahle filters just for the hell of it (not getting into the debate). It arrived today and this is what it looked like. I figure the rust may have come from being stored improperly over the years, but it's the sloppy sealant and glue that has me saying "hmm..." I suppose the risk of the glue/sealant or rust particles getting loose into the oil is not big, but pictures of the Baldwin/Hastings filters on the forum look much better than this. Thoughts? I'll probably e-mail Baldwin too and see what they say.

In case anyone is interested, I ended up e-mailing Baldwin the pictures and this was their response.

If you posted a pic I can't see where it is.

Rust on the outside of the filter would have to make it through the filter media in order to contaminate your oil. Rust inside the filter would be different.

The Hastings version of the same filter is actually made by the same company and usually costs less.

RA sells the Baldwin and Hastings interchangeably at the same price. You'll know what brand you end up with once it arrives.

I am using my Cell Phone as a hot spot but I am using a Laptop Computer to view on.

If you copy the pic to your computer you can attach it as a thumbnail to the bottom of your post. And I know that shows up.

I went to rock ap and did a parts search for P102 and it came out HASTINGS / BALDWIN LF380. The LF380 is the Hastings number for the same filter. I posted pics in another thread; the Hastings and Baldwin filters physically look the same with the exception of the part number on the Filter.
