81' 240D Fuel line size ?

Hi, I have been reading this forum for the past few months and it has been a huge help. Have been very impressed by the professionalism and helpful attitude of everyone despite variety of personal views & backgrounds. I have an 81' 240D for the past two years and have really grown to like it. Have a couple of questions that I was hoping you gys could help me with...
I have a leaking fuel line on my 240D and am trying to find what size to replace it with. Fastlane offers several with different ID's and I am now totally confused. Cannot find the info in my Haynes manual... Any ideas ?
Also, maybe I am losing it but my manual says that the capacity of the fuel tank on my 240D is approx. 17 gal but I consistently put in around 12.9 to 13.1 gal at the pump ! i.e. when the yellow "fuel low" light comes on. Can the reserve be 4 gal's ?! seems like overkill.
Thanks !

Fuel Line size

Hi, thanks for your reply. It is the fuel line between the 2nd and 3rd injector on the engine. Has been "weeping" fuel for the past few weeks.

HI!

the Inner Diameter of that Hose is not 4mm, maybe it will FIT and FUNCTION!?, but a 3.2mm ID hose is to prefeer.

there are lots of diffrent hoses u can buy, one of them is Gates GSL-32 Universal Fuel hose, another is "viton" hoses which we use here in Sweden often! especially in cars with the injectors under covers and so on, because of the temperature.

hopes u have found the right hose!

A cheap alternative.

Take the leaky hose and go to your friendly lawn mower repair shop. Weed eater fuel line will work nicely here, and hold up to the fuel oil. I bought enough of the stuff to redo all of my injector lines with my last 240D, for less than $10 including tax. They are also opaque, so you can even see if there are any air bubbles in them.
