I have enjoyed the repair stories of late so I have a couple that I did the other day that actually worked. My daughters 78 240d had a couple of problems crop up at the same time. She had been losing coolant so after seeing the dripage right under the water pump I pulled the radiator (no ac) too give clear access, and changed the impeller without pulling the whole water pump. Why would the Haynes manual have you pull the entire pump

Yes, I wouldnt exactely say this car is "the love of my life" but I am rather fond of her. I just returned from a 1500 hundred mile road trip to northern Ca and back to see my folks, which am doing at least once a year now. I have 107 K on the clock and have done very little to the engine in the way of repairs except for the usual mainaence stuff like water pump, alternator, and vacuum leaks etc.....Its a great car for road trips. What I like best is, these cars are mostly within my skill level to deal with. ![]()
