240D rear sway bar

Thanks to the board, I found the source of my recent rear end clunk easily. Unfortunately, it wasn't the tie-rod ends, but rather the drivers side mount breaking free from the rusted frame.

I got an estimate of $400 to cut out the rust and put fresh steel in. Is there a downside to removing the sway bar entirely if I'm not expecting any high speed maneuvers?

No, just be careful. I drove w/o the rear bar for a while due to accident damage. Watch out in high winds, and don't try autocrossing or anything... :p

Regards,
