Question on replacing door-lock vacuum element
Hi
I am replacing the passenger door-lock vacuum element on my 1985 300D Turbo. When I taking the old vacuum element out, there is a long metal rod attached to the vacuum element. How do I take the rod out from the vacuum element? Thank you Steve |

There's a small white clip and it just unsnaps.

Thank you Speed300DTurbo
The vacuum element is the factory original. I don't see the white clip. It has black end instead of the white end from "FastLane". The rod end has threads looking like screwed into the black end of the vacuum element. However, somehow the rod end cannot be screwed in or out of the black end of the vacuum element. Steve |

Thank you , I got the rod out
Thank you Moraine
I finally got the rod out of the vacuum element. Actually I pushed the black plastic thing all the way down , then the rod can be taken out from the slot. Thank you everybody. Steve |

Steve,
I hope you did not pay too much for your new vacuum element, especially if the only thing wrong with it was a worn bellows. A new bellows can be fashioned with a finger cut from a yellow dish washing glove, some thin gauge wire, and a small cable tie. It's an easy fix, and you will feel like the king of the world upon successfully completing this innovative rebuild. I got the idea from a member on this forum, and it saved me a lot of money...as do MANY of the posts here. On the other hand, if you felt obligated to support this fine forum by making your purchase from FastLane, then more power to you!
