Mercedes part number for breather tube on a 123?

I need a new breather tube (goes from valve cover to air cleaner) for my 81 300D. Does anyone know the Mercedes part number for it?

I'd order from fastlane, but by the time I pay the exchange rate, taxes, freight, etc. it ends up costing far more than I can buy for locally.

Thanks! I did a search and found that 617 018 01 82 is the p/n for the new style breather. If my dealer can't beat PartsShop's price of $31.27 CAD I'll be going through PartsShop. Unfortunatly Lordco doesn't carry them

Has anyone had a problem with the new flat one touching the front side of the air cleaner housing. Mine did that and I went through two of the new style ones until I just used the old one back.

It touched the metal air cleaner housing and due to the vibrations the rubber eventually got worn off and oil started leaking from it....

i upgraded to the flat style a few months ago. i haven't noticed anything odd yet, but now that you mention it, i can see how that one spot could wear away from constant rubbing.

thanks for the heads up - definitely worth monitoring...

I noticed the flat one rubbed too. But my oil consumption appears to have dropped significantly with the new flat breather, with NO other changes. I'll just replace it as needed if I have to. Or wrap that area with tape, or something else to reduce rubbing...

Does anyone know just how the flat breather tube works to reduce oil consumption? Does it work with the early 300D without the oil trap?

The flat tube has internal baffles that help oil vapor condense back into liquid, so less vapor gets sucked into the intake, and more liquid returns to the sump. Don't know what older models it will retrofit to...

I picked up a flat breather from the dealership today (it was cheaper than fastlane + shipping to canada + conversion) and it would not fit my 81 300D. It wasn't even close. So, I ordered the original one which I'll pick up tomorrow.

Not surprising,

A flat style fits the TURBO engines. EVERYONE a 1981 300d is not a turbo engine()M617.912). The flat style replaces the multiple plumbing pieces in a turbo. Non-turbo is a 6-8" rubber tube with two 90 degree ends.
