some engine problems

i know this is a very general question but my car (1984 300SD) will run between the top 2 lines (temperature) i think it is between 80-120C*. so i am guessing around 100-110C*. is this normal? because it seems too close to the overheat line too me. should i bee looking into changing the coolant or anything?

also sometimes (1 out of 10 i would say) when i am taking off from a stand still i would floor the car all the way and it will take off very slow, and the engine speed would not go up. (it will stay around 1000 rpm) for quite a while. then after that it will take off just find. i checked all the vacuum lines and they are fine. does anybody have these similar problems?
