From the "too much time" files;

So..., I've been working on my free 300D for the last month, swapping the tranny to a 4-speed, replacing seals, bearings, rebuilding switches, motors, etc.

Must have had just a little more time to goof off, so I filled in the shifter knob with blue luminescent material (that I use for re-luming watch dials..., another hobby).

Here's what it looks like in the light:

Meant to take a pic in the dark to show how the shift pattern and numbers glow, will do that tomorrow after I see the dentist about the front tooth I broke-out dropping a wrench onto my face under the car!

Actually I was thinking since I have to paint the dials on my dash anyway wouldn't it be neat to do nearly the same thing to it? I'd use yellow or orange for a luminscent, then it'd glow so much brighter as well. The only problem is I don't know how well these colors would look with normal daylight and I don't think the blue or green glow would look very nice.

Tom, I feel for you. I chipped a front tooth one time working under a Rabbit diesel pickup. I was pulling the exhaust manifold off and it suddenly let go and I got the exhaust pipe stud directly in the mouth. Not exactly life threatening, but still the most horrible feeling. Some of my best injuries were from working on cars.... BTW, dentist made tooth look good as new and that was over 10 years ago and still looks fine.

Thanks for the moral support!

Am heading to dentist this AM. Will probably cost me a years worth of insur and fuel to get it fixed.

Yes, me too on the car injuries. Was pulling a crank out of a junkyard engine a few years back to save myself $85 and tore into my wrist down to the tendons. Cost $125 e-gency bill for stitches and THAT was the deductible! Good deal on that crank, eh?
