Question Right hydraulic oil for self level suspension

Hi Guys,
Can anybody please tell me what is the correct hydraulic oil for my W123 230TE. I am able to buy Castrol Hydraulic Fluid Hyspin AWS. Which it describes as a high quality solvent refined mineral oil based hydraulic fluid, treated to inhibit oxidation/corrosion. Which sounds just the job, but is it correct for this system.I have checked past posts and have only been able to find that it should be" mineral based".

Any help would be much apreciated
David

Yes, MB oil is "mineral based." If you are knowledgable in hydraulics it could be possible to find a "cheap" alternitive to the $16 the stealership, ahem, dealership charges per liter. You would be taking a calculated risk of something being not properly lubed, seals being eaten/swolen, or metal parts corroding.

Because of this, I don't put anything non-MB approved in my suspension, plop down the cash and get the real stuff.

After spending $125 to replace a leaking hydraulic cylinder for my cabriolet (my car has 6), I lost any desire to look for substitute hydraulic oils. Get it from the dealer.

I took a sample of the original fluid to my colleague who can reverse engineer fluids. His comment was that it's a "high quality hydraulic fluid".

You can get the MBZ fluid at a far better price from plenty of other suppliers besides the stealership.

Thumbs up Right hydraulic fluid

Thankyou for the input, looks like another visit to my local MB, I'm starting to feel like part of the furniture (frequent visits)!
