Price for diesel compression tester

Hello!

Does anyone have any suggestions on where a decent quality but relatively inexpensive compression tester can be had? This has been one major tool that I've always lacked, and now that a friend of mine's looking at a 240D with pretty high miles, I'm starting to think that now may be the time to get one (haven't seen the car, but it sounds mechanically sound; the test is primarily to pacify his mom ).

Ideally, I'm hoping that the tester can be used with (i.e. has adaptors that can work with) the OM616/617, the 6.9l and 7.3l IDI Navistar diesels, the 5.9l 6BTA Cummins engine, and the 6-71 Detroit 2 stroke, although for the "right" price, I'll be happy with something that'll work with the 616/617 alone.

Another thought; does anyone know of a shop, parts store, etc that might rent one for this purpose (if it turns out I can't afford it soon)?
