Wanted 300SD or 300SDL
I know this isn't the cars for sale forum. I already have this posted there. I thought it would get more attention over here. I am looking for a sub 200k, or even better sub 150k. 300SD or 300SDL. Full service history, no rust, no accidents. Not to many owners. I will be willing to pay a realistic price for a pristine example. Also something not to far. Preferably in New England. I am comeing up empty so far. These cars are getting hard to find in good condition. Although I have only been looking for a little over a week.

a few ways to check
Hatterasguy,
2 years ago I had "SDL Fever" and wanted to find one in the worst way. I almost did. I had a lower budget than you and that was probably a mistake looking back. I ended up with a 210K car for $3500. I have about another $2000 in it and have driven it about 45K miles. It is no where near perfect but does run well now with a few more kinks and cosmetic things to fix. With the usual caveats to check check check... try: autotrader.com.. I just looked and there were 2 or 3 at about 100K - or claimed to be ebay... lots of competition lookup the major florida/texas newspapers online ( how I found mine) and monitor. Lots of retiree's. Mine was an estate sale and the son didn't value the car with 210K on it. I know you are looking local, but perhaps a southern - potentially more rust free car would be worth a trip. I traded pictures by email. Local forums members may be able to verify it in person for you. Carfax used to have a bulk offer, I think I checked 20 or so cars on it. Good luck! Let me know if you are still hitting Carolina Beach this spring. Chuck Last edited by CSchmidt; 01-11-2004 at 06:01 PM. |

Good point, I would like to buy a southern car, but bon't want to end up driveing down to FL or GA and then finding out the car is junk. I guess if I run the vin, look at pics, and maybe get someone from the forum to look at it. Thanks for the advice. Maybe I should add now, anyone down south know of a good W126 for sale?

I see you from CT, check out the bargainnews.com, it may help. I bought my uncles 1987 300 SDL blk on blk 139k for 3k, but he basically gifted it to me. In the bargain news I saw a sd listed for 5995, it looked good, but had 177k. I also have an 1984 SD, its more fun to drive then the SDL. Good luck
