DELVAC 1 oil HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I just started using yesterday DELVAC 1 for my 87 300 td wagon, it has 187,000 miles on it. I accidentally put in about a quart too much, will it do any harm?
Also, when should i do the FIRST oil change and subsequent oil changes?
And lastly, i got the analysis kit, when should i do it? at the end of this next oil change or wait for the next one after?
thank you

A quart over max is too much. Use suction down the dipstick tube. I use a 'topsider' oil change unit to remove all the oil that way at changes. A 'mityvac' will also work for a quart, a bit at a time. Having that much excess could blow seals and cause some serious leakage.

I would remove the over fill,

You should be toward the min, but never over the max.

For your next change interval, it depends on how clean your engine was before Delvac 1. I'd go 3k, then 5k, then maybe 7,500-10k.

Start the changes at low intervals. The delvac 1 will cleanb quite a bit of sludge. Id say 3000, 3000, 5000, then the interval that the oil analysis then tells you.

Do the analysis when the oil is hot and just driven (thats the way you ought to change oul anyway). DOnt worry, you wont melt anything or burn yourself. Let a bit of oil flow out before sticking the sampling jug in there.

Take the first few analyses with a grin of salt. Sludge will have quite a bit of wear metals, etc.

I would not analyze for the first couple intervals unless I had money to throw away. Also, make the first couple intervals shorter than normal. Getting the filter changed early is probably the most imprortant thing.

Good point, I agree.
Like I said in my last post, the wear metals in the gunk that the synth cleans up will actually screw up your readings.

You can begin to devellop a VERY vague baseline with the sludged oil analyses, but you really are better off saving your money. At least for the first run with delvac 1... Youre already paying a lot of $$$ for oil youll be dumping prematurely.

Your engine should take 8.0 quarts at oil & filter change. You mean you opened up a third gallon jug and poured in a ninth quart? Ouch. Yeah, you need to siphon out that quart.

If this is not the case, what does the dipstick read in the morning, with the engine completely cold?
