Buy an Audi! Please.

I just got back from lunch. We rode in my coworker's Audi A6.

It happens to be a beautiful day here in NC so I was wondering why the sunroof was not open. She said she was afraid to open it because it might not close again! Goodness!

A few minutes later, the check engine thing comes on and says to add oil. We stopped and checked. The level was fine. The car was just serviced last week. Nice.

This is a $45k car? ummm...I think I will stick to my manual extra-large sunroof and no check engine light. Oh yeah, and it's paid for.

I leave for florida tomorrow. See you guys next week.

she used to drive a mazda 626. she got a promotion and wanted a phat car. she won't admit to it but i sense a little bit of regret. I'm not one to rub anything in. The way I see it, she does not own the car, the car owns her.

Rick,
I'm gonna end up going to the other coast instead. sorry!
I found out an old college girlfriend now lives in Daytona Beach so I'll be hanging out there. I hope the weather holds up.

The weather should be great next week. We had a cold snap (49* nights) early this week and that should be the last one of the winter. And the 4:00pm thunderstorms won't start up for another couple months. Be sure to use sunscreen even if it's cloudy - otherwise you'll fry!

It's not really fair to make that assumption from that photo. We don't know how the car was hit. Air bags won't deploy - and shouldn't deploy - if the car suffered side impact only.

I think the airbags should have deployed in that wreck.

I had a good bit of exposure to Audi's while I was working so much in Europe during 2000 through 2002. I drove a sport suspension A4 several thousand kilometers on the German Autobahn and into France and into Switzerland. I drove a few rent car A4's as well. A fellow I worked with that lives in Milan had an A4 Quatro that I drove a little and rode in a lot.

The A4 with the sport suspension, tires and the turbo is a really neat car to drive, but every one of these cars had mechanical or electrical issues of some sort.

This is in no way a scientific survey. For all I know these may be the only four Audi's ever built that exhibited problems, but these cars certainly didn't make me want to run out and buy one.

As I say, they're really great while in the drivers seat, but if it's a car that exhibits a lot of problems I'm not interested.

My $0.02,

Such a shame that Audi still has quality probs. They are very nice cars otherwise, with awesome interiors. I still think they are using left over Jaguar parts and Lucas electrical systems. Their cars of the mid-80's were a nightmare My Coupes are great cars because they are so simple to work on. But I had a '86 5000S that was a real POS!
