aack it wont shut off

thank you for the complete posts on how to change the vacum shutoff
I went to my local junk yard and bought a new vacuum shut of
for less than $5.00
I know I should have at it from Mercedes Benz but They wanted $90.00

and mighty vac handheld pump is incredibly useful I had to find a vacuum leak @ the ignition switch
my 300 SD finally turns off with the key
but now the automatic door locks do not work I must have knocked a vacuum line loose while I was under the dashboard

take care
people as cheap as I am should not drive Mercedes Benz !

Did you spray out the lines with brake cleaner?
I just did my shutoff, and oil got into several lines from its failure.
I took them all apart, individually, and cleaned em out real good, make sure that cleaner dries b4 reassembly.
If there is a low point with oil, you will have problems.
Look at every single line, follow it, learn where they all go.
check each end for oil, and tight connection.
I did, now my fuel door and heater works!
Repacled much of the rubber, too.
Don't trust it if it looks old, replace it, it's cheap.
Mityvac every connection, you will find the problem.

Did you really get a "new" shutoff for $5?
Wow, thats cheap.
I paid $38 at ***************, and got fittings there cheap too.
No, not affiliated, I just like to find the low priced stuff.

Charles,

You are NOT cheap. You are thrifty, frugal and economic like me.

Nothing wrong with that. If it weren't for prople like us, prices on eveything would be higher.

Veg,

Cheap to me means something of low or inferior quality, not necessarily relating to the cost of an object.

Therefore, I like objects with a low cost but of good quality but do not like objects that are cheap I.E. poor qulaity, reguardless of the cost.

Look for a yellow plastic vac line connecting to the main vac line from pump to brake booster. Dollar to a donut, you pulled it off while working on the shutoff. If it broke, just splice it together with some vac line.

the name of the junkyard I used is ecology automobile recking

ecology automobile wrecking is a great source for Mercedes Benz parts because it is a self service junkyard the lady that take your money does not now or care if the part is from Chevrolet or Mercedes they have set prices for each type of part
they have 2 rows of the Mercedes Benz cars but only one 300 SD
but they have lots of 300d

I will get to work cleaning my vacuum lines as they are full of oil

Thanks again for the advise I am new to diesels and Mercedes Benz.
have had 300 SD for
