84 300D Trubo CV boot cover

Does anyone know of a CV boot cover that will fit the 84 300D? I've found replacement CV boots. But what I'm looking for is the quick and easy cover that goes over the boots.

I know I've seen them for other types of vehicles.

I also realize that I should really replace the boot. I am planning on doing a rebuild on the CV joints eventually. But I don't have time to right now. All the boots are cracking but they are dry and don't appear to have broken yet. I'd like to avoid the damage associated with them breaking before I have the time to fix them properly.

Its Turbo (not Trubo).

No boots are not available. Cracking is quite common with these boots. If it bothers you, use some Hi-Temp black RTV around the cracks. It has worked for me, some others on this list don't like the idea.

You can't use a split boot design on these CV joints. The joints contain a thick oil, not a grease. How would you seal up the boot well enough to contain the oil?

You might find a better response to this thread on the diesel discussion section. In fact BoostnBenz has a good web site for rebooting without the expensive tool. Do both sides at the same time.

I had my typomatic turned on....

As for the rebuild. Yes I've seen it. I am planning on doing the rebuild. I just didn't want them to break open before I could get to it. Summer is starting and I kind of wanted to tackle the AC before it gets too hot.

I looked a few months ago when my boots went out, no luck. Those axles go for around $400.00. I ended up getting the offending axle replaced.

JC Whitney catalog shows boots for the 115 chassis. Since the 123 has the same axles, I imagine they should fit. No idea if they are any good or not.

Well I found all 4 boots on FastLane for $109.00. Or I can just replace the axles with rebuilts for $200 each.

Now I just need to decide how much time I've got.
