Condenser removal - have to take out radiator?
I want to remove my AC condenser; the AC system has been evacuated and the hoses have been disconnected from the condenser already.
I've been told the coolant system needs to be emptied and the radiator removed to get the condenser out. Is this really the case? Can the radiator just be moved out of the way enough to get the condenser out? I imagine the fan might get in the way, but that's more easily removed than the radiator. Any ideas? Thanks!

Take the fan out and the condensor will come out the front. No need to remove the radiator.

My 81 wagon, of course :-).
I have the aux. fan out already... The condenser doesn't look like it will slip out the front very easily though. Have you or anyone else here done it that way? I'd have to remove those two angled bars, but I assume that's not a problem. On a related note, what are those bars there for? Do they support that upper section to keep it from sagging or are they just there to hold the aux. fan?

For the record, the condenser does NOT like to come out the front. If you want to keep your condenser in good shape after you remove it, don't try pulling it out the front. I had to do a little bending and scraping to get mine out that way (fortunately for me, I'm tossing it anyway).
