With reasonable / proper maintenance, what is the life expectancy of the engine found in the 300SE, SEL, etc.?

I may look at one with 200,000 miles in the color that I like, though my trusted mechanic said these are good for about 225 or 250k with really good history. Given the amount I drive per year, this may only mean 1.5 to 2 years before it smokes or does whatever an old engine might do.

With that kind of mileage you could blow it the day after you buy it ... take off enough for new head, chain, etc at a minimum ... I would probably not consider it without taking off about $6-8K for a new engine.
