Question OIL EXTRACTOR NOT WORKING DILEMA !

I am attempting to do an oil extraction on my 2005 C320 Sport Sedan using a topsider Pela Pro extractor. I was able to only extract 2 quarts and no more. Checked all tubing for air leaks or hissing...none found.
Venting the extraction process by ONLY opening and removing the OIL FILTER STEM housing. I DID NOT remove the oil filler cap- oil filler cap was left closed. I could see the oil trying to get out...but only to be sucked back down. There seems to be a venting issue...as I stated I did NOT open the oil filler cap...do I need to do this, to provide maximum venting? Engine oil was very warm, engine run 5 minutes prior to extraction attempt. Any suggestions? Please help!
