Caught this small news item from last weeks Autosport:
"Mercedes GT car to enter US series, Mercedes will be represented in the American Le Mans Series for the first time in the championships history before the end of the season. A Canadian team is building a GT class contender based on an AMG Mercedes C55 coupe, which it hopes to race for the first time at the Laguna Seca round in September. Vancouver based Flying Tiger Developements, an offshoot of the local importer of AMG performance Mercs, has been working on the project. Team boss Eddie Lai will drive with another unnamed Canadian." This is a direct quote. Any of you Vancouver guys know this bunch? If you do cheer them on, I will be! I wonder if they are really running the new c-class coupe with a V8 or the article meant to say CLK55? And how much factory support are they getting? |

I wonder if they will have a manual transmission capable of handling V8 torque? Or will they compete with an automatic?

I don't see how it could be...that's why I think it was supposed to say CLK...they will probably get the racing manual tranny from AMG that they use in the DTM car.

Brabus has put a V8 in the W203 C-Class and the R170 SLK.

AMG GT racing
I have met Eddie at Performance Motor Group. They used to be called AMG (probably AMG's local representative) before MB bought it.

i know eddy pretty well. the car IS a CLK and the chassis is still being modified. eddy used to race a 190E with a transplanted 16v engine and tranny. he did quite well with it too.
