I recently purchased a '93 300CE and working on some mods. What would be the most effecient set of springs to get for a 1 1/2" to 1 1/34" drop? I am also going to be running some 18x8 AMG Mono (yeah I know they have been played out but not a whole bunch of wheels fit this thing).

Try the sportline springs that are avail thru PartsShop. Normal drop is around 1" & upto 1.75" with the thinnest spring pads.

MB DOC
How are the Sportline's compared to the Eibach Pro Kit springs in term of quality and ride height?

The attraction of Sportline springs for my car was that they are Mercedes Benz parts (and quality), engineered at MB for my model car to provide a good compromise between ride and handling, while not messing up the complex relationships of the suspension or requiring modifications just to get the wheels alligned.
The Sportlines will probably not lower the car as much as the H&R or Eibachs. They probably will not have as stiff a ride, either. They will not require modification or drilling of your subframe in order to allign the rear wheels. They WILL be about the same cost, corner and handle in a superb manner, and retain a large % of the original comfort (see the article on Sportline springs under the 'cars' tab, and do a search on the word 'Sportline' to read lots of comments.) Six months after the install, when everything had settled in, I had about 1" drop, without any 'splaying' of the rear wheels ( /-o-\ ). Hope this helps. [Edited by JCE on 06-30-2001 at 11:32 AM]

I think eibach and sportline are is the same stuff.
Sway bars and springs looks the same to me. H&R will lower the car about 1.8" I think H&R has the best aggressive look for W124.The front will be lowered more then the rear. ( I am not trying to sell my springs, just my real expression on the matter.) If you put Bilstein shocks and sway bars it will raise the car. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=19710 Eibach and Bilstein are recommanded by various MB tuners, such as AMG, Carlsson, Lorinser. Hope this help Pete regards PS If you are going to use 17x8" I think you should forget about H&R. It might be too low for the size. |
