your system came out really good, I like how everything ties in together. I plan on doing a centrifugal blower on my 3.0, in the process of getting all the parts together. What would you recommend to deliver the proper afr and make it perform well? I will be keeping CIS due to a lack of funds and know how when it comes to stand alone.

pistons or another stock engine

Ok, I have the funds to move forward with pistons, but I can get another engine for cheap and buy new injectors, build exhaust manifolds, etc. Am I just fooling myself that I can run this amount of power and a little more on a stock piston or should I just go down the custom pistons road.

imho.....nab the other engine & stretch your dollars further. I'm a strong believer in getting the tune right. Get the AFR's reliable/constant. Stock pistons are still good quality alloy. If you don't overheat them, should be OK

Maybe get a few members advice & decide from there as this isn't your run a the mill build which I'm sure most are aware

I talked to CP again today. I got a pretty solid quote at 1250.00 with pins and rings and skirts coated. They are pretty sure that the guided rods will not be a
problem. I will send off a piston rod combo this week and get the ball rolling.
Will have to get the block checked for exact bore to go with. If I can get away with stock bore and a clean up great but might have to go with 90.4mm for next ring size.

Got info back from CP. Pistons are profiled and ready to go. I am sending in the order forms and opening an account.
They are going to match the piston except for a stronger ring land design.
Guided rods are not a problem. Trying get this done for spring. Would like to get the engine back together and do some cheap headers. Will have to wait till next year for the nice ones.

Absolutely on the pics. I am just getting the skirts coated. They do not think that a full coating is necessary for street use. Especially since I am running e85.

Well I finally got the order going. Cleaned up the block to 90mm bore and it should be around 4-5 weeks before I see the pistons. I am going to have the stock rods polished and shot peen. With new pin bushings and resizing this is only going to be around 300.00. I found that the engine I was using was not fitted with oil coolers. I had always thought all m104 were but I guess not. The block I am going to use does have them. Hopefully I should be solid for the next couple of years. I would like to start breaking driveline components. Drag radials will be coming after the engine is together and running.

Just a thought on the peening, I did bend two of my peened rods a while back and never really figured out exactly why, however i replaced them with stock used rods and ran another 70hp more(close to 400) and didnt bend them.
One theory was we got some water in there and the other was maybe the peening didnt do the heat treated/forged rods any good??...with my limited knowledge I would think its unlikely the peening damaged them but i have heard stories about uneven peening causing the rod to bend as the work is done!....interesting.

Post 95MY M104's were squirter-less. IIRC any number 104.9xy with y being >4 is squirter-less. That said, I believe the AMG motors kept them up to/including the last 98MY, but they used different squirters anyway (OM603/6?) to cope with the longer stroke.

Well hopefully I will have my rods back next week. Polish, shot peen and new pin bushings etc. I can start putting this thing back together. Yeah.
I have been looking at injectors and an leaning towards the Five-0-motorsports custom milled bosch ones. I think I will go 8-900cc. Give me some room to go bigger.
