Can a w124 benefit from an aftermarket coil?
Would there be any adverse effects? I am doing some planning for the turbo project, and I am not sure of the specs on the stock coil. Perhaps a 45,000 volt upgrade would allow for a better spark than the stock? Would the stock ignition system even be able to properly power an aftermarket coil?

I have have had the Jacobs system on my 300E for about 3 years now. Without a question there is an improvement in power. Not much, but it was definately an improvment. I can sell you my system if you like. I am going with replacing my whole ignition system so I won't need it anymore.

I'm not exactly sure which system I plan to use right now. I am going to have to do a little more reasearch.
Here's a jacobs coil on ebay. it may go for way under what I would want. I would accept $200 for my system |

YES!!!! Done it to many other cars. It is usually the first modification that I do to any car that I own. Plus you will get better gas mileage.

The Accel coil you are looking at is not designed for your ignition system. I would not recommend this type of coil for your application. Accel does make a coil that works with your system though and i have used them before. Here is a link to the coil you would want to use. They are really no better than stock but definately cheaper.
