Whats the best upgrade for C43?

What would be the best upgrade for a 98 C43? I love the car just would like to have a little bit more kick to it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

You get that ML running?

"small" upgrades for the M112/113 are pretty rare, at least anything that would "really" do anything. I'd either get MBautowerks to put a Kleemann blower on it, or leave it alone, and for the second time in 5 minutes DON'T put a K&N filter in it!!!!!

Do they make a chip for it? I heard of a air cleaner housing out of carbon fiber, does it make any difference? i heard it's kind of expensive and just in case I decide to throw a Kleeman charger what would I gain? Haven't gotten back to the ML yet, tomorrow I hope. Thanks

I have heard of "chips" not sure about wanting to do that or if it exists. I would assume that an upgrade would be done via "flashing" the computer, not replacing an internal part. Never actually done one or seen where the module would come apart to replace anything inside, my knowledge is a little restricted in this area.
A carbon fiber filter box would be mainly if not totally for looks.
Don't put an aftermarket air filter in, they can ruin the expensive mass airflow sensor (MAS).
Contact the owner/webmaster of this site Bill Wood and ask him about Kleemann superchargers, MBAutowerks, which is the sponsor of this site, does Kleemann insallations if you really want to go that route.

I hope you can see the following link without having to register for the website that I am getting it from...

http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1711

Its by a hard-core Mercedes enthusiast who works at a shop and they do exhausts for big name companies (He couldn't say who, but I guess some tuner brand contracts them to make their exhausts). His exhausts are getting good reviews by the W202 AMG owners, and I bet their price is good. They also have done some other high end cars like new Porsches and Maseratis... not bad for a newer company.

He claims dyno shows 17-22hp gaind after multiple dyno runs on their C43 exhaust, which looks like this in comparison to OEM AMG exhaust...

On the engine side of my C43 I have removed the fog lights and installed ram air ducts and have run 3" tubing to the airbox which has been opened up on the inside and had screen removed. The two screens to the MAS were removed and then I bored out the MAS to 82mm from 72mm?. I also reshaped the intake elbow and put the throttle body on the lathe and cut a smooth 10 degree angle to enlarge the throttle body to match the diameter of the other tubes.

The intake manifold has been ported and port matched to the cylinder head. Also the intake length has been altered. I machined phenolic spacers to go between the cylinder head and intake manifold.

While my custom exhaust is a little different than the one shown above, it is mostly the same.

The result is that the engine pulls really hard and will spin the Kuhmo MX rear tires 255/40/17 at 25mph if I stomp the throttle to the floor.

The engine also pulls harder everywhere and has a very strong midrange an lowend.

Suspension includes SSR wheels, custom spring perches that allow 2.5" diameter race springs that an be changed in 30-40 minutes. Custom front swaybar 1.25" hollow and an adjustable rear swaybar. Penske shocks all around with compression canisters, so they are both rebound and compression damping.

And other stuff. Jeff
