SL500 Interior Locking Mechanisms

The interior locks (on the door compartments, etc) don't seem to lock when the infra-red button is pushed. Doors lock, some compartments lock, but all don't. Alarm goes on, etc. Any idea whether this is a "big deal" or something that just needs a shot of WD40 or silicone on the ones that don't seem to "move" when the button is pushed? Thanks

On my 1996 SL600, the center compartments (armrest, rolltop box), as well as the rear shelf compartments lock. The map compartments and other compartments dont lock.

You may have a vacuum leak in the circuit for the interior locks. I suggest getting a vacuum pump with gauge and testing each of the circuits where they originate back at the supply pump in the trunk. Autozone loans vacuum pumps for free.
