There's quite a lot of material in old posts about this. General consensus was that engine and oil can run pretty hot. The water in my M113 (same as your M112 but with 2 more cylinders) runs between 90degC and 100degC most of the time and the oil is even hotter.

I'm glad you got your uneven running sorted, amazed about the fuel, will watch out myself in future.

not right yet

JJ thanks,
but the car is still not how it should be, the cel light pops one every now and then???? last time was secondary air injection malfunction. but once we manually turned it on the code dissapeared, seems like the same thing again.
It has happened both times at roundabout in S mode and when i pull off really fast. my mechaincs initial thoughts are that its the relay sticking... fingers crossed. although the pump works on a cold start....

I must admit i should have followed your advice on the cats. I have had some issues with the ones i got from GSF. so im man enough to admit where i am wrong. but i cant justify the extortionate price of MB. i think the ones KMS do are good quality and are similar to the original where as the GSF ones and alot smaller......
if i could get even a bit cheaper from MB i would buy but cant fork out £1400 for cats.....

The check engine light may be related to the cats. I'm no expert so you might want to see what the other contributors make of it.

My MB dealer did my cats for about £1,200 including labour, but I send all my maintenance his way so he gives me favourable terms. You probably don't want to hear this, but in the last year I have expended about £5,000 on maintenance. I figure on keeping the car forever and with 100k miles on the clock it was always going to need fairly heavy work, so I went ahead and did it all.

5k

Damn JJ,
You must have gold lined pockets...... £5k is a hell of a lot of money to spend on a car, in the space of 1 year aswell.......
im not planning on keeping mine forever maybe till next summer max. I cant use this car practically to be honest. we have a c class aswell, so that compensates i suppose to a degree....
I have asked a few people and its not related to the cats.. but if i was you i would get all servicing done by MB but then get additional work done by a indie specialist. but each to thier own i suppose.

temp

I have some issues with the temperature in my 113 engine.
My CEL is on, I thought that it was because I hot roded the SL a little bit this past weekend, I was in a hurry, but this morning I noticed that my oil temperature gage did not move even though my water temperature was at 80C, while driving to work at 45 MPH for aprox 2 1/2 miles since warm up.
It finally started to move , but it never went past 70C, my water temperature stayed the same.
Anybody experience this before?
