steering box end play

I had it
i started reading all the old posts on end play in the steering box
I cheched out coupling tie rod ends etc
Nothing but the box had end play in it
So I modified a wrench to fit down through the m front of the exhaust manifold and loosened the nut , moved the set screw out a 1/2 turn
What a difference
The car feels great
I hated the way it felt before 2" of end play in the wheel
I believe the worm screw gets worn after years and puts play in the unit
Same thing happens in industry with that type of ball screw
I seen may with screw worn and slop in unit
I don't think it came from the factory that loose
People would have vomited after paying $65,000 for a car
Looking at the ball srew set up the screw must be somewhat worn
This gave it new live to an old unit
made the move to adjust and glad I did
