diesel powered SL??

Snooping about on youtube I found this amazing test drive video of a 107 chassis SL converted to a OM603 turbo-diesel.I'm not sure why someone would do this, but it does run/drive.
Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16TwiCAMejA

I kinda like the idea... it's always interesting to see the unusual custom hybrids, and turbodiesel in SL - well, why not? As far as "why" he did the conversion, most likely he did not take a perfectly good car apart, it might have needed an engine, and there are numerous advantages of diesel over gasoline (of course there's always a flipside to every coin)... looks like the car is pretty fast, and can probably tow whatever the frame can handle... not something that I could personally use, but kudos to whoever completed that project!

I wonder what is possible, acceleration-wise with propane-injected diesels? There was a youtube video of a guy in a 300TD doing a burnout in one.

When gas was over $4.00 gallon I thought about it. But that one sounds like a John Dear Tractor.

I'm still holding out on a well-performing (but 22+MPG on regular gas, highway) 107 with a V6. I think with the drivetrain out of a late model compact truck, it can be done.
