Door Lock Vacuum Problem

Noticed yesterday that my doors and trunk on my SL do not unlock when using the key to open the driver's door. However, they do unlock when I unlock the driver's door prior to turning the ignition off. Figure somebody here has experienced this problem and will hopefully "enlighten" me on the fix. Thanks!

Not seen this specific problem, but sounds like it could be a faulty non-return valve on the vacuum reservoir. This would mean that there is vacuum while the engine is running but air leaks into the reservoir when suction is no longer applied.

Just an educated guess, really. Good luck tracking it down.

I had the same problem and you are right, it was one of the check valves located close to the engine side of the firewall on the drivers side. They are round, like 3/4 " plastic valves connected to the vaccum line. To test them just take them out (Remember the positition for reassembly) and blow with your mouth on one end, air should pass throught only one end. If air passes throught both ends, replace it. Good luck.

Thanks guys. Will check it out this weekend if it's not too chilly and report back what I find.

An update on my door lock problem. Locks just started functioning normally yesterday, so don't know what happened. However, will file this away in case the problem surfaces again. Thanks for the helpful responses.
