New Exhaust Tips on the SL

I wanted a different look for the exhaust tips, so I had a pair of almost new tips from another car. Got out the sawsall and cut the down pipes off leaving about 1 1/2 inches. Used reducer pipes 4" long and clamped the over the cut muffler pipes. Measured the tips to the rear bumper, got out the dremmell tool and cut out approximatly 1' to accomidate the new tips. Put on the tips and it turned out great. The whole job looks great, very tight and attractive. Now the great part, I was pricing this type of job with a few body shops, muffler customs guys, etc. The cheapest one was $500.00.

My cost:

Two tips, which I had 0
Two clamps 4.99
New sawsall blade 2.99
Two Reducer Pipes 4.00
Labor 3 hours 0
(no charge to myself)
Two beers 3.00

Total Costs: $13.98

BTW: I did do a lot of alignment and measuring and layout work before cutting the muffler down pipes and the bottom bumper area.

If you want to know how crooked a stick is, just lay a straight one next to it.
