It seems that this steering wheel caper never ends. I yust looked at my Steering Wheel Mike and it is identical to the wheel in your pic.

It appears that Ricardo musta got swapped out to on his wheel also.

OBTW - The guy that I sold my 92 300E Sportline to called me to tell me he had an engine compartment fire and car was totalled. I estimate that he would have appx 100K on the car and don't know what condition the wheel is in but it is identical to my present one.

My steering wheel from my 3/92 US version 500E is like Ricardos too...and I had to endure the 'you fool, someone swapped them on you' from the other 500E owners..but alas, maybe there were different style wheels during the early days...but Michael's is only a month or two after my car and he's got a different looking wheel...what the f___? I'll measure mine this time but it still looks like a standard wheel like my 92' 190E 2.6 had...and the one previous owner said that's what came with the car when he picked it up as new in 92'...no switch-a-roo according to his recollection....???

Just checked out the other 500E link Ricardo gave us...my wheel is like that one but WITHOUT the nice chrome star in the center of the airbag...wish it had it though...looks classy. I wonder what other wheel iteration will pop up next?

I may have some light to shed on this one. While going threw the Mercedes CD on removing the steering wheel ( I am going to replace the slip ring soon, to squeaky), file 46-8240 in Chassis section, CD 2 has a image of BOTH the wheels mention throughout this thread.

Apparently "new" Spiral Contact wheels where being installed in the 500E's as early as 02/93 (there is mention of 07/93 on this page below) ,these appear to be the version with the narrower botton spoke.
