W123 Manual Steering Set-Up FOR SALE
Entire System: Manual Box; Pittman Arm; Nylon Nut; Correct Steering Shaft 369mm; Correct Grommet; and knuckle. The Box has been professional rebuilt by Martureo (forum member here on PP who does this on the side).
$600.00 plus shipping and PayPal fees. This is for a REBUILT BOX and everything you would need to convert to manual steering for the W123. All pictures are on my other thread "The ultimate highway fuel sipper" The forum will not let me post pictures again unless I take new ones. I got the box from Germany and the lower shaft from Sweeden. |

Here are some pictures. I received a handful of PMs already about pictures and all the stuff I am now selling. Here's my answer: I will try to post as many pictures as fast as I can. Those who are really interested, please PM me and let me know which pictures you want. I will be selling close to 50 items or kits or "collections" of parts and the overall logistics of keeping track may get jumbled a little.
These pictures go to the W123 Manual Steering Conversion Kit. I have this in my MB W123 240D originally ... soon to have turbo engine. By far one of the better conversions I have done. Everything is rebuilt which can be rebuilt, and cleaned up, painted, and looks close to new. The knuckle is close to new or at least looks to be in great shape. |

Ive driven a 240D with this setup and its surprisingly easy to steer. I'm almost tempted to but this for mine but cant commit to actually finding time and installing it

There was a mini-flame war when I started looking for one of these set-ups years ago. I did ping a few of the more vocal posters and asked about their experiences. They indicated they had none. So, I did it.
Once you're moving, it's just as easy to steer as a PS set-up and it gets rid of all slop and it's a superior experience IMO. Car is much peppier as you're not spinning an extra pump. Overall, around 2 to 3 hours to swap it out, need a few "special" tools, e.g., the "spreader" to remove the tie rod end without damaging the rubber boot and around 2 or so hours invested to go get your car aligned. My project has manual steering and it was a lot of work in the long run since I swapped it out, and realized the lower steering shaft is different. Then I had to source the correct grommet which is NLA except I found 2 in India. A few other issues along the way so having the kit for sale gets rid of those headaches. I am tempted to keep it since once it's gone, it will be tough to find another. The current kit came from Germany and Sweeden, and rebuilt locally from Martureo. |

Sale pending.
Slight update -- The prior "sale pending" fell thru but I hung out for around 3 weeks. I will let any future "sale pending" cook for around a week but after that, it's fair game. Those other folks who contacted me, I do not generally 'reserve' parts unless you tell me you are buying it in a day or two. However, that did not work out well. Just a FYI to be fair. Also, if I can figure out a way to safely pack and ship a pint of tranny fluid, I will include that as well. |
