**Sorry, I also posted this message under Performence Paddock, I really need some help with this question**
I recently installed Eibach springs at my MB Dealer for my 2000 W210-E320. However, the dealer was not very experienced in dealing with the ride height. They changed the spring pads twice and still can't get all 4 corners to level. They are saying that it will never be perfectly level, true?
Can someone please tell me what number pads are used for stock E320 (both F & R)? What would be the suggested pads for an Eibach lowered vehicle so the ride height can be the same at all 4 corners.
Thanks you so much for your help in advance!

I don't know what to tell you myself, I'm putting in new springs this week.

Currently my 1992 W124 300CE has 3 bump pads in the front and two bump pads in the rear.

I went to the dealer to get new spring pads as I was in the area, and had to order them, but I ordered 1 bump for the front, and new 2 bump pads for the rear.

Which part of your car is too high or too low. The pads range in thickness from 8mm to 23 mm

8mm = 1 bump
13mm = 2 bump
18mm = 3 bump
23mm = 4 bump

I think I'm right on the sizes, but not 100% sure.

You might be wondering why I ordered new 2 bump pads for the rear, but I figured as long as I was replacing them, new pads would be better than the old ones.

I probably should have ordered some 3 bump for the rear just in case, but I think I will be fine.

If the rear ends up too low with the 2 bump pads, I'll have to get some 3 bump ones and try that.

You should figure out how high or low the offending area of the car is. The pads vary in thickness by 5mm each, so if the rear is 5mm too low you will have to get the next size up on the pads.

If it is lets say 8mm too low, you will probably want to go with 2 sizes up to make it just 2mm higher, which should not be a very noticeable to you.

If you cant get the car exactly level, you might was well raise the rear slightly than have it lower slightly.

Thats my opinion on it.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong with any info too. I'm not a tech.

Ashman,
Thanks for the reply, it's very helpful, however after a little research on this site, I found that W210 have slightly different thickness pads and each pad is 4mm apart.
Could you explain why you said "you might was well raise the rear slightly than have it lower slightly"? What would be the reason to have higher rear than front?
Thanks

In other words, it will probably look better if the rear is raised slightly over it being lower slightly in the rear.

My car is lower in the rear than the front, and it looks awkward, which is why I am changing the springs and going with lower pads in the front.

The car probably can't be 100% level, so you are probably going to have to have the rear a little higher or a little lower than the front. But we are talkign in mm not inches, so if its 2 mm the difference should not be noticeable.

Hey Ash...

I recently put the H&R's on my 92 400E. I think the rear LOOKS a little lower, but you have to realize that the wheel opening is smaller in the back. This contributes to the illusion that the rear wheel is tucked in higher to the body, making the back LOOK lower when in actuality the fender skirts just come down further in the rear. Did that make any sense? After I put the springs on, I was like, "Damn, this can't be happening!" But after about 2 hours of measuring and chalk lines and level measurements I determined proportionality didn't change. Hope I shed some light on the subject. I will soon be installing the EVO II rims in 17X8, and if I have problems there, THEN I'll look to changing spring pad thickness. Good luck!!!

Peter

Peter,

I do know about that rear wheel well being smaller, but I'm talking from a ride height standpoint, if the rear is down more than the front it looks awkward, and when under acceleration the front gap will get even wider as the rear squats more.

I have 1 bump, 2 bump, and 3 bump front pads to try out for front height, and 2 bump and 3 bump rear pads for rear height adjustment.

I'm thinking 1 bump in the front with 2 or 3 bump in the rear will work out nicely for me.

I have 16x7.5" wheels with 205/55/16's, and plan on doing the 17x7.5 evo II's with the 225/40/17s" (am I right on that tire sizing?) but I want the titanium finish ones. man do I think those will look killer on my car.

As far the fenders, if I need rolling, I'll roll.

Alon

My W210 came with #5 pads in the front and #1 in the rears. They left the rears at #1 and used #1 pads when they installed the H&R springs. The car sits a tad lower than 26 and 1/2" all around.

I hopes this helps.
