I am planning to upgrade the stock 17” wheels to 18”’ on my 00’ E430 Sport. The reason I want to do this is purely for aesthetics. I would like a sportier look and don’t like the gap between the tire and the top of the wheel well. I am very satisfied with the ride quality and performance of the stock set-up.

I have scanned through the previous posts to figure out what to do. There was lots of good advise. I have decided to buy either AMG Mono II or BBS RXII’s with Michelin Pilot Sport from the Tirerack.

I have seen in some earlier posts that if I keep the stock springs and upgrade to 18”s that it will increase the gap between the top of the tire and the wheel well which is the exact opposite of what I want to do. I really don’t want to change the springs on the car. DO I NEED TO CHANGE THE SPRING TO AVOID THIS????

PS- anyone seen the BBS RXII’s on an E-Class? They look good on the “Wheel Rack” program, but I would like to see a picture before spending the money. I’m afraid the BBS design will look to “busy” - I've only see them on BMW’s out here.

Thanks,

A careful tire size selection will be needed alot of the size selection for the 18" packages do actually increase the "gap" that you are concerned about but, I can assure you that together we could come up with a package that will be aesthetically pleasing to you.
Give me a call and we will work together to figure out what will work best for you.

Thanks, Luke
p.s. the picture is a RX not an RXII
