Yeah I think I had to restart the car once for the light to finally go off. The long term fuel trim should come down gradually, but with a new MAF the light should not come back.

I have had that same experience with my OBDII tool. The light and the codes are persistent until the key is turned off. It is off the next time the key is turned on - generally.

I read the posts and have seen most people do a ML oil change every 10,000 miles but there is no alternate mention of time i.e. 10,000 miles or 12 months? I bought my 2000 ML used with a fresh oil change and 36,000 miles on it. 7 months later I have 39,000 miles on it. That's about 4700 miles a year of weekend driving - half local, half highway. The FFS reads 4800 miles to go. So as you can see my driving habits suggest my oil chages be based upon time rather then mileage. Should I go by the FFS or change the oil every nn months? Suggestions

Time vs. Mileage?
First, I'd check the owners manual to see what is says about time limits. (I know that the spark plugs have a mileage & time limit on replacements). Also, be sure you're using synthetic oil. Personnaly, I never wait for FSS to get to zero. The dealer would change it under warranty when FSS reached 2K, so I've stuck with that (usually about 8K miles.)
