ML320 stalling on takeoff

We have a 2002 ML320 that has been a great SUV. Recently it has developed a problem. I'll try to describe it. It starts fine, however after driving for about 1/4 mile and coming to a stop the engine almost dies and begins to miss terribly... I can press on the accelerator and it still misses after several seconds it tends to catch back up and runs better. Although, if we come up to another intersection or stop it may happen again. After all this it will run well for the "rest" of the trip...

Thanks again for any tips or pointers!!

Hal

Checking the fuel pressure & delivery would be a good starting point.

A vacuum leak or Mass air flow sensor failure is also commom problems.

If the check engine lamp is on have the codes read.

These are classic symptoms of a bad mass air sensor. Just replace the air sensor insert (not the whole unit). You will need special tool to remove the insert, the screws are not security torx, they need a 5 sided security bit, check ebay for it.
