WTB: G-class Diesel/Gasoline

I am finally to the point where I getting rid of extra clutter and making room for new toys. I am trying to locate a G-class from the 80’s. I had the opportunity to drive one this summer and had a great time driving from Texas to Wisconsin. I am looking for a diesel, with hopes of finding one with a manual transmission (not picky however). I would be interested in a gas; I just know nothing about the engine. I have been told they only came with a six cylinder? What type of gas mileage will this get and does it have a good toeing capacity? Is the six cylinder reliable, or what can I expect to have to replace?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,
Dr. J. Bones

The early to mid 80's G's came with either a 4 or a 6 cylinder gasoline engine or a 4 or a 5 cylinder diesel. The diesels are very hard to come by, as lots of folks looking at them for WVO applications.

The older G's show up occasionally on Ebay and another good site is the classifieds section of clubgwagen.com.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like more information. I've been driving a G since 1984.

Dr. J. Bones,

I bought my Mercedes-Benz G-class G320 Cabrio form Russ the owner of Europa G-WAGEN and I recommend his services.

Website: http://www.gwagen.com/search.php

Below are some other options:

1. Red Cougar: //deleted//
2. mserpe's website clubgwagen: http://www.clubgwagen.com/classifieds/ads.php
3. Ebay Motors: http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Cars-Trucks___Mercedes-G_W0QQ_nkwZMercedesQ20G

Good luck in your search.

Respectfully,

James Van Thach

From reports I have heard elsewhere on the Internet, I would never personally buy anything from Red Cougar!

DUTCH,

That is duly noted, I will not post Red Cougar as an option anymore.

Respectfully,
