Grand Pappy Unimog
Was this the grandaddy of the Unimog it's a MB L1500A 4x4 circa 1941-3

Howdy Bear
The Unimog was designed and built by a company called Boehringer after WW2 as an agriculture vehicle. MB bought the rights to it an turned it into the most versitile truck in the world. MB was making 4 wheel drive vehicles in the teens and these did have an influence (as did the truck in your pic) on the Mog.
