Memorable/great lines in movies (possible spoiler)
I'm a connoisseur of memorable and great lines of dialogue in movies. (Books too, but we'll get to that later.) For me, to be memorable or great, the line or lines can be either funny or dramatic, but they have to give me the shivers, or make me jump, or have something extra special. YMMV.
For example, the original "The Terminator" has no less than 4 separate zingers, even aside from the famous "I'll be back" line from the Terminator itself at the police station. ******************** My favorite has to be the final scene, one of the greatest in all film. Sarah Connor, who has survived and destroyed the original Terminator, is sitting in her jeep at a last-chance gas station near the Mexican border. She knows, as do we, that the great struggle against the computers and machines is only a few years away. Small boy (pointing off to clouds on the horizon as a dust devil swirls by): Viene la tormenta! Sarah (to gas station owner): What'd he say? Gas Station Owner: He said, "There's a storm coming." Sarah (looks off into the distance at the clouds. Softly): I know. (Sarah starts her jeep and drives up into the distant mountains, the Terminator theme crashing in our ears) ***************************** Now that's the kind of heart and soul that was missing from the second film (and for all I know, the third, since I haven't seen it). How about you?
