Yeah, I can hardly wait not to line up for that one, too.

Or the expose about CBS--another one I am not going to see.

Or Dan Rather. Ditto.

It just doesn't interest me especially what goes on in a newsroom or among newsies. Just gimme da news. Multiple sources, please. Thank you verrr mush.

I recall a few 60 minutes mini documentaries that were proved to be false, where were our critical thinkers then? I guess it's selective critical thinking.

Again, back to formula. Attacks upon people who post, with nothing to be said on the issue at hand. In a way, you both confirm what the documentary is trying to say - that the American people are fed a cowboy movie version of the world because ultimately that is what a large segment of the population demands to be fed.

Also, we covered the 60 Minutes thing at length on this forum, and all ended up chastising Mr. Rather.

I'm not following you. What does this comment have to do with The Control Room?

How the hell would he know? He refuses to see it. Also, the idea that any documentary that presents a counterview must be false because 60 Minutes did a false story really shows the strength of the logic here.

I got interested enough in this phony statute toppling story to google into it - its the first I had heard of it, but seems there has always been a lot of questions about it. This link shows some pretty conclusive evidence it was staged, and that the people were members of con-man Chabali's gang:

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article2842.htm

What is incredibly disturbing about this story and the falsehoods we knew were given to us by the Pentagon in the Jessica Lynch story is the implication that Pentagon Psychological Warfare units are engaged in activities that target us, not the enemy, for propagandization, something which is actually illegal.

This is old news. What’s disturbing is that it is not common knowledge. The supposedly liberal media is careful to only spoon-fed a “critical lite” version of news. Somehow only “Link TV” – PBS’s Bill Moyers “Now” and “Frontline” seem to be truly critical. My guess is that’s because nobody watches, except for the choir.

Just to get an idea what the rest of the world is seeing, here is a report from an Indian news site on the battle of Fallujah:

I never even knew it.Apparently even the British press at the time was reporting this as a phony event while we were shown pictures of what looked like cheering crowds and never given the real story on it.

The point of the documentary was well worth understanding, no matter what side you are on - al Jazeera, by taking nothing the Pentagon says for granted, putting a critical eye on everything it says, and doing the journalistic footwork required, has been making fools of us on the world stage and we average Ameiricans don't even know it - and it is because the new Pentagon propaganda is designed for us, not the enemy. We are told that we are having a Nintendo War, where few civilian are hurt - the Iraqis know this is not true, the rest of the world, thanks to Al Jazeera know it it is not true, but we in the states are told that it is. We are told how much the Iraqis love us and how our reconstruction projects are winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqis - the Iraqis, whose children we now find are by and large starving, know this is not true, the world knows it is not true, but we think it is. You could make a list a mile long. No matter what one thinks of Al Jazeera, this film raises some very disturbing points about the state of our own democracy. How could we have had a fair election if people were voting based on this propaganda we have been getting from our whore media and its Pentagon pimp?

Yeah the use of that impersonal pronoun stuff makes it hard to understand without the special decoder ring.
