James Taylor's very first album, something like James Taylor and the Flying Machine. Only one song on it has that sound he's become famous for.
Beyond that I probably have 300+ albums in pristine condition, mostly soul, 70's funk, rock (Commodores, Stevie Wonder, etc.) Joni Mitchell, Robert Palmer, Al Stewart, The Beatles Yellow Submarine c. 1967. Haven't even looked at them in 15 years. |

Hold on to them, they are bringing big bucks on ebay, especially original Beatles.

My mom and her husband moved to Texas today. While looking through some stuff that they weren't taking, I found some old records designed to be played on one of those old Vitrollas (sp?). I'll get them out of the car tomorrow and post what they are.
Do you think they're worth anything?

Could be, it depends really on who it is. I mean, if you find a Blind Lemon one in there then it might be worth who knows what... $10k or up maybe?

I saw them on what used to be a late-night program back in the 70's, Don Kirchners Concert what-ever-it-was-called. They did that William Tell thing I mentioned, and blew me away. I just HAD to have the album. One thing I never have figured out. Are they from Italy, or Spain? I've always thought Italy. How about Kraftwerk's Autobahn album on vinyl? Anybody else have that one?

I think I have a Spike Jones record in a box somewhere. Oh, and some recordings of "famous speeches" FDR, JFK, etc. that I bought at a yard sale about ten years ago for a dollar.
EDIT: I also have Mojo Nixon with Skid Roper (Root Hog or Die) and David Lindley (El Rayo-X) cassettes. Last edited by el presidente; 12-07-2004 at 01:02 PM. |

Mangione was great...
I've got his album Children of Sanchez.
A few other discs in my collection: Maynard Ferguson (several) Saga -- Worlds Apart Asia -- Asia Prefab Sprout Mark King (of Level 42) -- Influences Jon Anderson (of Yes) -- In the City of Angels Lee "Scratch" Perry -- Open the Gate And I used to listen to them all in my 87 Mercedes afraid that if I closed my eyes, in some Austin Powers time-travel moment, I might be transported back in time to my high-school parking lot when I was 17! I’ve got some of those old Riverside recordings of Sebring. Who could ever forget Olivier Gendebien describing how fast those Birdcage Maserati’s were? Music for sure

I've got some great box set collections of LPs:
All the original UK Beatles albums released on London. All of Miles Davis' recordings on his main label (Columbia?). All of John Coletranes' Atlantic releases. I really should peruse eBay and find out what prices these are fetching....

Ever see Mojo in concert? Pretty good show. I have a Dash Rip Rock cassette around somewhere also. It is an early one, before Fred LeBlanc split to form Cowboy Mouth. Last edited by Jake; 12-07-2004 at 03:06 PM. |
